Bill Clinton, former US president says in his audiobook ‘My Life’ that he was eligible to apply for the Rhodes Scholar program in two states; New York state where he attended school and Arkansas state, where his home was. Since Arkansas has a lot less Ivy League Schools than New York with eligble students to compete against him, he chose to apply in Arkansas which has a lot less students who competed against him, and of course he won the 2-year stint as a Rhodes Scholar.

One of the ground rules in sweeping and contesting says to enter where the competition is the least. Let’s clap for savvy Mr. Clinton.

From listening to his 6 hour audiobook I got the impression that he likes to be invited to dinner because he did not want to leave the Stanford Campus without having dinner one more time with his daughter Chelsea, who started her college education.
