Heinrich Federer, a Swiss author, was born 10-06-1866 in Brienz, CH and died in Zurich on 04-29-1928. His mother pushed him into the priesthood which asthma made him quit in 1899. That is when he started to write and when he was 45 years old, his first novella ” Vater und Sohn im Examen” won him 5,000 deutsche Mark from a writing contest he entered that a large Berlin publication DAHEIM sponsered. After years of poverty he finally made a living as a writer.

Unfortunately, Heinrich Federer was accused on Aug. 2. 1902 of picking up under-age boys (Knabenverfuehrung) . His homosexual tendencies cost him 526.65 Swiss Franken in court costs and he was shunned by the public until he won his contest.

Some of his writings:

1911   Lachweiler Geschichten

1913   Jungfer Therese

1914   Das letzte Stundlein des Papstes

1924   Papst und Kaiser im Dorf

1927   Am Fenster – autobiographical

1928   Aus jungen Tagen – autobiographical

Heinrich Federer had the heart of a social reformer. Some of his writings can be found on the Gutenberg website.

Who was Wallace Wattles?

December 26, 2007

I am still trying to get more background material on the contributors of “The Secret”, the book that conquered the world just a while ago. I find, that Wallace Wattles (1860-1911) who studied different religions and philosophies in his time, made some interesting discovering about mental laws. He wrote the “The Science of getting rich” in 1910, one year before his death.

He describes success as getting what you want, which is the same in all cases; that is an effect coming from the application of a cause. He believes that the cause of success is always in the person who succeeds, not outside the person like in nature or the envirionment a person grows up in because we all know several people who grew up in the same environment and live in the same community and they show all different levels of success in their lives. Mr. Wattles writes that the cause of success has to be somewhere within us, it is a power that lodges in us and can be developed to a limitless extent, because there is no end to mental growth.

To succeed in life, we have to examine our faculties and decide what field of work we are best suited for and then prepare for our path ahead of us. I want to get involved in regular sweeping activities which means I need to have access to a computer on a regular basis and I have to know how to search for open sweepstakes that I am interested in and  I have to persue my hobby that pays, on a regular basis.

In other words, our talents are our tools, we are the users of our tools and the energy in us which causes us to use the tools in the right way, at the right time and in the right place is the cause of our success. Without reading all of M. Wattles books and essays, I draw the conclusion that our success depends on our thoughts and intentions.

Intention is an all-pervading force in the Universe that allows the art of creation (win a prize). It is not something we do, but an energy we are part of that originates from the field of intention and we align ourselves to it and our desires become fulfilled.

THINK ABOUT WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT TO YOU. CAN YOU IMAGINE THAT SOMEBODY WHOSE LIFE IS ABOUT TO END, COMPLAINS ABOUT NOT HAVING EARNED ENOUGH MONEY IN HIS LIFETIME?

DENKEN SIE DARUEBER NACH, WAS IHNEN WIRKLICH WICHTIG IST.  KOENNEN SIE SICH VORSTELLEN, DASS EIN MENSCH, DESSEN LEBEN ZU ENDE GEHT, DARUEBER KLAGT, NICHT GENUEGEND GELD VERDIENT ZU HABEN?

Here are 3 reasons Sweepstake sponsors ask usually our birthday before we enter a sweepstake.

1. Federal law protects individuals under 13 yrs. of age.

2. Many sweeps require entrants to be of majority age.

3. Demographics

In Florida, if a prize is over  $ 5,000 winner must buy bond, because of scam artists; agency may buy the bond or make the sweep void in FL

People who enter 400 to 500 sweepstakes a day on the internet usually use automated software like Roboform. They spend about 3 hours to get this task done. Roboform lets you set up folders  to keep track of the daily, weekly, monthly, one- time and what have you, sweepstakes.

If there is an instant win that is still going and limited to one win per household, you can move it to the won folder so that the passcard still comes up.

In the one-entry folder, if passcard comes up for that sweep, you know you have entered it.

Remember:

You have to be 21 to enter liqueur sweepstakes.

The random draw differentiates the sweepstake from a contest which is judged by different criterias to select a winner.

Sweeping is changing and getting harder to win. More people enter and the prize structure has changed with fewer lower level prizes; many sweeps have one prize only.

To stay in the game as a consistent winner, use some automation like Roboform and enter 300 to 500 times a day to improve your chances for winning.

Different ways to enter are by snail-mail, online, sending for codes (Dominos Pizzza) or game cards (Dream Home sweepstake).

Our illustrious 16th president was Abe Lincoln. Here is what it took to get there.

1831- lost his job – did not win

1832- defeated running for Illinois State Legislature – did not win

1833- failed in business – did not win

1834- elected to Illinois State Legislature - WON

1835- sweetheart died – did not win

1836- had nervous breakdown – did not win

1838- defeated running for Illinois House Speaker – did not win

1843- defeated running for nomination for US Congress – did not win

1846- elected to Congress – WON

1848- lost re-nomination – did not win

1849- rejected for Land officer position – did not win

1854- defeated running for US Senate – did not win

1856- defeated running for nomination for Vice President – did not win

1858- again defeated running for US Seante – did not win

1860- elected President of the US – WON

Doesn’t this remind you of sweeping?  We enter to win and enter to win again until suddenly we receive winner nomination that we won a million dollars. I say if Abe Lincoln could become president of the US, then any of us can win the grand prize. Of course, trying to stay away from the heavy frying pan that Mary hit Abe with, might have contributed to his motivation to occupy the White House.

ALWAYS BEAR IN MIND THAT YOUR OWN RESOLUTION TO SUCCEED IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY ONE THING. (Abe Lincoln)

Dr. Ethel Percy Andrus went to visit a retired schoolteacher, whom she found living in a chicken coop out back with no money and no medical insurance. Determined Ethel joined forces with like-minded people and started a campaign to get affordable health insurance for retired teachers. Well over 40 companies turned her down, but she preseerved and succeeded. Her patience was the mustard seed that started the AARP.

When I read this,  I was trying to think of a time when I entered a sweepstake 40 times to have a chance at a prize I really wanted and I could not come up with one single sweepstake and I am sure I’m not the only one who does not put her best effort forward every time I find a prize I covet. What about Jack Canfield and his partner for the “Chicken Soup” books who had to approach 140 publishers before one put their trust in them and took a chance on them?  Has anybody ever entered 140 times a sweepstake they liked without giving up in desperation. The prizes go to the people who persist and persist again.

The Hobby That Pays

December 7, 2007

Like most people, I play the lottery on a regular basis in addition to sweeping and contesting and I always wondered what the difference is between the three games of chance. Here is what I found out:

The lottery has elements of prize, chance and consideration and is legal only when conducted by state government.

The prize can be cash or merchandise or services.

Chance is the opportunity to win.

Consideration is the money spent on buying the lottery ticket

In order to run a prize promotion, a private company must eliminate one of the elements of the lottery. By changing its form the givaway becomes legal. Usually the consideration is eliminated and the prize promotion is called a swepstake. A series of prizes are offered and the consumers are invited to send in their name and address. The element of consideration is not present, because the consumer is not required to buy anything or send any money in order to enter.

In a sweepstake promotion the private company makes no money directly because you don’t have to pay anything to enter online, and for a mail-in sweepstake you have to pay the postage but never a product. There are sweepstakes where you are asked to send the label from a product or simply print the name of the product on a 3×5 card. Obviously the private company would prefer that you buy the product but they cannot demand it. Your opportunity to win is not based on whether or not you purchase the product.

This makes many people suspicious of sweepstakes. It is the old saying about something for nothing. That is the reason that very few people believe they can win without effort. They are already convinced that a company doesn’t give anything away for free. Of course, there is something in it for the sponsering company as well as for the consumer. This is a win-win situation for both parties. The private company sells more merchandise and the consumer gets a chance to win a prize. The hidden cost is access to a computer for online sweepstakes and for mail-in entries postage has to be payed. That’s the cost of doing business if you want to call it that.

The second prize promotion for a private company is a contest which requires some type of skill. Here the element of chance is not present which differentiates the contest from the lottery. The missing element of chance makes a contest legal. The very fact that a skill is required means that the element of chance has been removed. In this case consideration may be present. The private company may require you to buy a product as a requirement for entry. Contests are sometimes advertised where you are required to send in bottle labels or box tops with the completion of a sentence in 25 words or less.

Games are another popular form of promotion especially with fast food companies like McDonalds or Subway where the consumer buys a cup of soda or hashbrowns which have game pieces attached to them which can be played online for a chance to win prizes.

Some telephone surveys, like McDonalds, have weekly telephone surveys that have a sweepstake attached to it where you can win up to 1,000 dollars a pop.

This explains some of the gambling choices for people with few resources to gamble.

BY THOUGHT THE THING YOU WANT IS BROUGHT TO YOU. BY ACTION YOU RECEIVE IT. (Wallace d. Wattles)
