I have no idea why I am obsessed with Helen Hadsell but she keeps roaming around in my mind ever since I read about her. Here is some blogging material that Joe Vitale wrote about her after he had a long telephone conversation with her. I got Joe an Amazon gift card because he asks for it in order to print his blogs. This is a former homeless man who repackaged the ideas from authors like Helen Hadsell and Norman Vincent Peale. One of his offerings goes for 97 dollars in case you are interested.
He tells us about Helen Hadsell that she wrote the book: Contesting: The Name it and Claim It Game. The book showed the practical side of metaphysics. His Attract a new Car program is in the same genre: the idea is to show that how tools like positive belief, visualization, feeling and action lead to concrete results – like winning a contest or manifestin a new car.
Helen’s book was a breakthrough book. It sold 3 million copies. Tha approach used to selling it is a great marketing lesson. A young man who was so broke he lived in his car, heard of Helen’s winning contests with spiritual principles and said he wanted to publish her book which explains how she won all those prizes.
He did not have any money.
He did not have any experinece.
He did not know where to begin.
But he had a goal: “I want to make one million dollars and move to India.”
Helen had her own goal: “I want to make one million dollars and open a center of my own to teach these principles.”
The two made a deal: the man would pay a royalty of 50% for every book sold. He drove off to begin his mission. Helen trusted him ( though her late husband did not). She let go and let things unfold.
:If it’s meant to be, it will be,” she said.
Six months later the young man returned, this time with a large check for Helen.
The young man had done the following: First he rented a mailing list of people who had entered contests. Second he sent every person on that list a postcard about Contesting, by the woman who won every contest she ever entered. This was a good market match. He sold millions of copies this way. He made his million dollars, moved to India, and gave all rights to the book back to Helen. He had achieved his goal and Helen got her money and opened her center. The whole deal was a win-win situation. The publisher won, the author won, and all the readers won.
Joe Vitale urges his readers to read this little story again and consider what happened because there are so many marketing and metaphysical lessons here that we can apply the insights in our won life.
Helen has an unpublished autobiography: Confessions of an 83-year old Sage. One of her lesser well known books is:In contact with other Realms:An Adventurer’s Experiences in Awareness. It is not surprising that she took the Silva Mind Control course from Jose Silva and she also knew Paul Twitchell, the mystical founder of Eckanker as well as the prolific prosperity authorJoseph Murphy who wrote: The Power of the Subconscious Mind.
I just hope I can get one of her 35 dollar readings, maybe on the way to the Sweepstakes Convention which is held in San Antonio,TX next year.
