When I bought self-sealing envelopes the last time they were so atrociously expensive that I started looking for an alternative. I found it at Staples in the form of a small plastic bottle with a sponge attached to the top. It is an envelope moistener with a 2 ounze capacity to fill it with water to moisten the cheaper envelopes. This little moneysaver could probably be made by hand. Buy a plastic bottle and put a hole in the top with a pin that seemstresses use and glue a sponge on the top. I bet it would be cheaper to make from scratch than the almost 8 dollars I spent on a ready made one.
Speaking of envelopes I read about a woman on the internet who won some great prizes with homemade envelopes from remnants of wallpaper. She got the idea from the book “The envelope mill” by Haila Harvey. My research tells me that any size envelope can be sent in unless the sweepstake rules call for an # 10 sized envelope. So try this out to get an edge on winning that great prize you’ve been dreaming about for so long.
